This original musical tells the stories of California’s past as seen through the eyes of children.  After reading books about California’s beginnings, the storytellers don costumes and relive periods of the Golden State’s history.  They bring to life the emotions of the children who came out West.  What did they see? How did they feel? What did they do? Children of the West features a variety of upbeat music, lively dance and pioneer duds while learning about California’s past and encouraging all to use their imagination.

Letters to the Past is a musical set in Stockton in the year 2049. A group of young history lovers are faced with the challenge of protecting San Joaquin County’s historical landmarks from being destroyed by the move to “Dome” the county. With the help of a Magical Postman and his messengers, they write letters to the past, to friends from long ago who will help them find a Book of County Records that will reveal San Joaquin County’s historical heritage. By solving the mystery, they are able to protect this county’s valuable landmarks of the past. Songs written highlight some of our county’s People in Time and emphasize the importance of learning and understanding our local history.

This original musical is sponsored in part by the Buck Foundation through San Joaquin A+ Program.

KUDOS began its Main Stage series with Botan in the summer of 2005.  It seems fitting that we will stage this production once more with the opening of our new theatre on Lucile Ave.  It is a story about a child who has come of age in a circus and proclaims a new circus act.  However, Botan becomes the laughing stock of the troupe because he plans to dance with a square balloon.  The hour show features circus routines, original songs, puppetry, black light special effects, dancers and clowns. Its message teaches that anyone can achieve a dream if you just believe in yourself and work hard toward the goal, despite naysayers or non-believers.  This is KUDOS mantra as we venture into our first year in our new theatre!
